EEG IN VERTIGO

Dizziness can be a manifestation of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. EEG needs to be considered when there is no other good explanation for a patient's dizziness after other factors have been looked into. Eplipeptiform activity in the central region has been reported with vertiginous seizures (Fujino, Hashimoto et al, No To Hattatsu 1996 Nov 28:6, 515-9) True vertiginous auras have been localized to the posterior part of the superior temporal neo-cortex.
