EEG IN TRANSIENT CONFUSION

Confusion has hundreds of potential causes. Confusional migraine is just one of them but has shown the interesting phenomena of FIRDA (frontal intermittent rhythmic delta activity) in adolescents. And it is to be remembered that you dont have to have a headache during every single migraine episode; some migraines are headache-free migraines (acephalgic migraines) Needless to say, complex partial seizures are in the differential diagnosis of confusion. In confusion that is due to medical or surreptitious use of medications like benzodiazepines the EEG can give us useful information by way of excessive signal activity in the Beta range.
